about
Sunbeams is dedicated to the memory of my cousin Sean Conway Webb. It is adapted from a poem I wrote when I was 14 to my cousin Tess after the death of our grandfather, Donald Webb.
lyrics
I would take your pain, child if I could
I picture you then and remember when things were good
If I could hold you now here’s what I’d say
“You were a blessing to us all each and every day”
He will suffer no longer
He will always be on our minds
Basked in a stream of sunbeams behind him
Wearing his favorite attire
Where do we go when we die?
Why don’t we know you or I?
No longer in pain, our earthly remains they ain’t all we leave behind
I could take my pain, put it in a song
To remind us of you now that you are gone
Or I could cry your name into the night
But that won’t make it fair, won’t make it right
He will suffer no longer
He will always be on our minds
Basked in a stream of sunbeams behind him
Wearing his favorite attire
Where do we go when we die?
Why don’t we know you or I?
No longer in pain, our earthly remains they ain’t all we leave behind, no
I still see your face in sunbeams
I still feel your warmth around me
I…..know, I know that he will suffer no longer
But he will always be on our minds
Basked in a stream of sunbeams behind him
Wearing his favorite attire
Where do we go when we die?
We'll never know you or I
No longer in pain, our earthly remains they ain’t all we leave behind,
No, not all we leave behind
